I’ve been honored enough these past few months to head up the development of a new web series, Charm U Crew, for a company called Cepia LLC. They’ve just launched their new toy line, Charm U, and in 6 weeks we’ve generated over 18K subscribers and are averaging close to a million views per episode, or as we’ve coined, “playisode.” The concept combines imaginative play involving real kids with good visual storytelling – it’s like getting a window into the movies kids are making in their heads when they’re playing with toys. Writing these has been an all-too-welcome opportunity to let out my inner child; directing them has been an awesome challenge in planning a tight 3-episode shoot day and working with awesome young talent — and building the sets has been a fun outlet for all the crazy worlds I wanted to build as a kid, but never quite had enough time, motor function, or legos. I’m lucky to have ridiculously talented collaborators and a relatively long leash to be as weird as I want to be. I suggest binge-watching them all!
