2018 was a crazy year. I threw flour and eggs and baking cocoa all over a local comedian; I made Facebook friends with a YouTube star; I won awards and put more focus on my writing life.
Let’s start with awards, right? I submitted my feature-length script, Broken Sinclair, to several competitions and placed as a semifinalist in Finish Line and Screencraft, a Quarterfinalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, and…drumroll please…
…won 2nd Place for Scriptapalooza!
I also submitted my spec for The Good Place and placed as a semifinalist in Scriptapalooza TV. This was a great year for writing. I’ve been more prolific this year in narrative writing than I’ve been for several years past. Besides my spec for The Good Place, I wrote 2 half-hour web series episode scripts, and finished the feature-length screenplay I’ve had in development for a long while, entitled Thief of All Hurts.
I also did lots of Production Design work this year; I got to work on an Anna Akana project, do a good deal of food styling–including a Tasty-style video with a comic twist–and dirty up some cars for Energizer’s Eagle One cleaning products.
I can’t wait to post footage from what I have up next – this month I get to work on a narrative short from a student at Columbia U – I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
